The oldest and the most sacred temple/ shrine of Brij Region is Radha Madan Mohan Temple, which is built incredibly on Nagra style of architecture and is located near Dusyat, Vrindavan which stands at a height of 50 feet near Kaliya Ghat.
The name of the temple holds an important significance, ie., Madan means ‘Kamadev’ and Mohan refers to ‘One Who Charms’. The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Madan Mohan, which can charm Kamdev.
Mythological facts state this popular Hindu temple in Vrindavan is 5000 years old and is built by the great-grandson of Lord Krishna – Vajranabh which was rebuilt under Sri Sanatana Goswami's reign Kapur Ram Das - a trader from Multan.
It is believed that when Mughal emperor Aurangzeb attacked the revered city of Varanasi in 1670, the idols of Madan Mohan was shifted to Jaipur and were brought back in the early 19th century which undergoes rebuilt by Nand Kumar Bose retaining those original deities.
